Prayer for our Schools::September 12, 2016

As we mark the fifteenth anniversary of the terrorist attack upon our nation and as threats of more attacks are faced each day, today these prayers are offered also for our nation:

Gracious God, heavenly Father, as we commemorate the anniversary of the terrorist attacks on our nation, we pray for Your care for those who continue to suffer or grieve. Mercifully embrace those who continue to rebuild their lives from this senseless attack. Give them the hope that only You can provide in Christ Jesus. As our students learn of this event, remind them also of the need for Your grace and mercy in their lives.  Hinder every act of evil and terrorism, and bring an end to all violence and bloodshed in our world.  Remind us that we have a better country, that is, a heavenly one that awaits all who trust in the redeeming sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus, upon the cross of Calvary; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

"Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." (Philippians 4:5-6)

Heavenly Father, You instruct us to not be anxious about anything, but to bring our requests to You. Grant peace of mind to any in our school who are anxious, concerned, or worrying about schoolwork, classroom management, family issues, friendships, illness, injury, or whatever troubles them.  Make Your presence known and calm their troubled hearts and spirits; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
