Sermon
A note from Pastor regarding his sermon:
Many Christians today believe that they must look or listen carefully for signs or messages that God wishes to tell them. They look for omens. They strain to hear God speaking directly to them. They look for churches that can reveal to them something new that the Holy Spirit wishes to tell them. Something direct and relevant to their lives or present circumstances.
But our Gospel reading for today is taken from Jesus’ instructions to the disciples in the upper room in which He celebrates the first Lord’s Supper. He explains the work that the Holy Spirit will do among His Church on earth – the Holy Spirit that Christ will send to guide the Church once He has returned to the Father. And what Jesus tells His disciples about the Holy Spirit gives us a clear indication of where we can turn when we want to hear God speaking to us.
