Sermon
A note from Pastor regarding his sermon:
One of the themes we’ve seen developing as we’ve observed Advent this year is the contrast between the Christmas holiday the world around us prefers to celebrate, and the message we find in Holy Scripture as we prepare to welcome our Lord Jesus Christ. The world is frequently quite happy to mark the day with general feelings of peace, love, and joy, while overlooking the true identity of Jesus and the reason He has come to earth.
By the end of this night we, too, hope to be filled with peace and joy as we sing that familiar hymn, “Silent Night”. But we do so after reminding ourselves of the chaos and disorder that sin has caused in the world and in our own lives… a chaos and disorder that Christ was born to calm. And after we consider the confusion into which Christ was born, we can finally arrive at the greatest peace possible: The knowledge that God has come to save and redeem us, when we could never hope to do so for ourselves!
