fourth sunday of easter
Sermon
A note from Pastor regarding his sermon:
In the three-year lectionary, the Fourth Sunday of Easter is sometimes called “Good Shepherd Sunday.” It provides us an opportunity to remember our Savior Jesus Christ as our Shepherd and Guide, who leads us through our life of difficulty and struggle and into everlasting life in the paradise He has prepared for us. But Good Shepherd Sunday also gives us an opportunity to remember the way Christ’s Church on earth is tasked with calling together the flock of God’s people and guiding them through God’s Word. In fact, our word pastor comes from the Greek ποιμήν, which literally means shepherd. And just as the Father sent the Son, and the Son sent the Apostles, and the apostle Paul established elders in the churches he planted throughout the Mediterranean world, pastors today are sent to help point the way to follow Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd.
