Sermon
A note from Pastor regarding his sermon:
For the second week in a row, the Baptism of Jesus Christ is the central focus of our Gospel reading. Last week, we read Matthew’s account of the event. This week, we read John the Baptist’s description of the Baptism in the Gospel according to St. John.
We might wonder what more could be said about Jesus’ Baptism, having just read about it one week ago. But the emphasis John places on the Baptism is subtly different from the one Matthew highlighted. This week, we see Jesus’ appearance before John the Baptist as a key first sign that Jesus is indeed the Christ who has come to save the world from its sins. And we encourage all to come and see their Savior, now living in our midst!
