A note from Pastor regarding his sermon:
In two important ways, our readings for this coming Sunday continue and develop themes that we saw in this past week’s lessons. Last week, we heard about Jesus calling Matthew, the tax collector, to be His disciple. This week, we acknowledge all twelve of the men Jesus called to proclaim His Gospel to the world. Last week, we reminded ourselves that Jesus came to call sinners into His presence to receive His forgiveness. This week, Paul reminds us that we were strangers – enemies of God, even – when God decided to save us from our sins by sacrificing His only Son for us.
We give thanks to God that he has sent laborers into His field to teach and guide His people to Christ and the everlasting life we have in Him. And we thank God that He loved us even when we hated Him. This truly is news that the entire world needs to hear!
