HYMNS FOR THE DAY

twentieth sunday after pentecost

Sermon

A note from Pastor regarding his sermon:

The image used by our Old Testament and Gospel readings shifts this week from a vineyard to a wedding feast, but there is still a warning there amidst the good news that we are truly invited to God’s wedding feast – a joyous celebration of our union with God that will never end. Last week, we were warned not to rebel against God’s Law and abuse the messengers God sends to call us to repentance. This week, we still see that there will be some who violently reject God’s invitation to His great banquet, but we also see how some people might let the distractions of this world take priority over the amazing blessing that God wants to give us. The invitation is free, but who will come to the wedding feast?
