reformation day
Sermon
A note from Pastor regarding his sermon:
With Reformation Day (October 31st) falling on a Saturday this year, and All Saints’ Day on Sunday, November 1st, we end up moving our observance of Reformation Day six days to this coming Sunday.
As always, we celebrate Reformation Day by thanking God for the guidance He provided to Martin Luther in correcting the errors of the Roman Church of his day and returning Christians to the solid foundation of the Word of God in directing our faith and practice. This year in particular, we focus on this principle of sola scriptura – “Scripture alone” – as the basis of our doctrines and beliefs. But while this principle helped to liberate Christians from the abuses of manmade doctrines that threatened to choke out the faith of medieval Christians, we should take care not to abuse or neglect the gift of God’s Word as we continue to await the return of our Lord.
