A note from Pastor regarding his sermon:

It doesn’t take a lot of investigation into the state of Christianity in the world to recognize that there is a lot of division and disunity among those who claim to follow Jesus. This can be a source of some confusion and regret, since we know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ should be great and comforting news to the entire world: God has saved us from our sins by offering His only Son as a sacrifice on our behalf, and we can now live in the confidence of receiving everlasting life with Him in a new creation!

And yet, though we would earnestly desire for Christ’s Church to be unified in proclaiming the truth throughout the world, our readings for this week remind us that we should not seek unity at the expense of the truth of God’s Word. The true comfort of the Gospel is not found in “agreeing to disagree,” or deciding to turn a blind eye to serious sin or disagreement. Jesus comes first to confront us with our sins and errors, so that He can deliver the best news of all: We are saved from all of our faults through His death and resurrection, and we will live with Him as He always desired us to in a new creation!
