A note from Pastor regarding his sermon:

Our project of understanding the work of Jesus’ disciples continues this week, with the story of Jesus sending out seventy-two men to prepare the way Jesus will travel on His way to Jerusalem. These seventy-two men are sent ahead of Jesus to perform signs that they are, indeed, sent by God, but the message they are to deliver is simple: The kingdom of God is near.

In fact, it is near! Jesus the Christ is truly God in human flesh, come to live among those God has created in His image. And the kingdom He proclaims is not just a promise of a distant future, even though we may not witness it perfectly realized during our lives here in this world. It is a kingdom that comes to us in foretastes and blessings, as Jesus comes to us in His Word and in His body and blood in Holy Communion. As we proclaim all that God has done for us, and give the world reason for the hope that lies within us, we can tell the world about a God that is present among us here and now, and forevermore!
