Sermon
Please read the note from Pastor Woodhouse regarding his sermon below:
Last week, we considered Jesus’ warning not to let man-made laws get in the way of true service to God, and not to be satisfied with serving God with our lips but not with our hearts. This week, we read Jesus’ words immediately after last week’s reading, as He continues to correct the Pharisees’ misunderstanding of the Law and how it is supposed to govern the relationship between God and man.
Even physical obedience to God’s Law may fall short of God’s expectations of us, if it is not accompanied by our full trust and faith in Him. God is after more than just our outward obedience to His commandments; He wants our hearts!
