HYMNS FOR THE WEEK

fifth sunday in angels’ tide

Sermon Starter

You ought to be suspicious of people who claim that they do not understand what God’s Law truly means, or who claim that they are confused by the so-called many ways that God’s commandments can be interpreted. It is one thing not to understand the deeper things of the Christian faith, such as the mystery of the Trinity or the mystery of the Incarnation of Jesus into human flesh, but it is quite another when you claim that you do not understand what God’s Law says.

Collect of the Day

O God, You have commanded us to love You above all things and our neighbors as ourselves. Grant us the Spirit to think and do what is pleasing in Your sight, that our faith in You may never waver and our love for one another may not falter; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
