Ascension of our lord
Sermon
A note from Pastor regarding his sermon:
Forty days after He rose from the dead, Jesus ascended into heaven. We might expect that this was a bittersweet moment: After witnessing Jesus arrested, tried, tortured, and executed on the cross, the disciples learned on Easter morning that their Teacher had risen from the dead. But now, He was departing from them again…
But Luke’s Gospel account of Christ’s ascension emphasizes that the disciples left the scene of the ascension with great joy. How could they be so joyous at the departure of their Lord? And how can we share in that joy, as well?
