Sermon
Please read the note below from Pastor Woodhouse regarding his sermon:
A large number of Christians turn to prophetic visions of the end times – like those in our Gospel readings for these past two weeks – in order to look for clues that will assist them in figuring out when our Savior will return for final judgment and to bring about the new creation. They seem to assume that, with enough careful study and insight, they will learn when these visions are being fulfilled in real-time, so that they will be able to prepare for Christ’s return at just the right time. But this approach to Scripture ignores what Jesus very clearly says to us this week: No one knows the time He will return. Only the Father knows. So instead of looking for clues and trying to figure out when the end will come, Scripture must have a different purpose for giving us a glimpse of what is to come when the end approaches…
